Sports betting is no different than playing the stock market: you make money by correctly applying information and research with a dash of intuition, experience and feel.

The key to making money is to steadily turn a profit, month after month, year after year. By that statement alone you should not be surprised when I say my entire approach can be considered “conservative” as you will not find me victimizing clients with ridiculously high-rated plays day after day like the carnival barkers and loudmouths that proliferated this industry through the 80’s and 90’s.

I rate my selections on a 5 Dime to 100 Dime scale, but it will be extremely rare when you find me breaking the 40 or 50 Dime barrier.

Understand this: My money management approach is just as important as my handicapping prowess. You must respect the linemakers and the randomness factor. Thus I’m not looking each day for the one big win, but rather for the winners day after day that steadily build my bankroll, putting me in position to strike it rich when the big play is found.

My system works; I’ve consistently beaten the oddsmakers and bookmakers over the years with my approach.   

I’ve been an award-winning sportswriter for a number of newspapers, including the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

I used to co-host the sports betting radio show, “The Stardust Line,” out of Las Vegas from 1991-96.

I’ve authored two books on sports gambling, “Las Vegas Sports Beat” and “Sports Gaming Beat,” plus another on fantasy football appropriated titled “Winning Fantasy Football.”

I taught a football handicapping class at UNLV in 2004.

I spent over 10 years as an NFL handicapper/author for the “Winning Points” newsletter, too.

My network of media sources and contacts, which include professional handicappers, oddsmakers, gamblers and sportswriters resulting from having worked more than 30 years for daily newspapers and Internet sites in the Midwest, South and West, along with Canada and the Caribbean, all play a role in making me a successful, winning, professional sports handicapper.

I’m a research rat; I study everything at my disposal: statistics, matchups, history, trends, angles and situations. But, at the end of the day, I’m a fundamental handicapper, one who also looks at player matchups closely. Knowing the talent level of not just the first-stringers, but back-ups as well, is key to producing side selection and proposition wager winners.

Familiarity in this business breeds success, and without a doubt my favorite team to bet on or against is the Green Bay Packers. Growing up in Racine, Wisconsin I’ve followed the Pack for nearly 50 years. I know the NFL inside and out.

Vince Lombardi once said, “Winning isn’t everything, but the effort to win is.” I’ve tried to pattern my handicapping and life from that quote. Does exhaustive research always produce winning days? No, it does not. But, it will produce long-term profits and that’s what I’ve proven with 16 straight winning pro football campaigns.
